Session: Introducing Babel

In a new series on bbc.co.uk/bristol, we'll be featuring sessions which have appeared on our local music programme BBC Radio Bristol Introducing.

Every week, Richard Pitt and Gary Smith host a two-hour show playing music from the best bands in the area.

You can now listen to sessions on-demand on the website - this week we're featuring Bristol band Babel.

The band started "small and folky". Their songs led to concerts, that led to two self-financed EPs sold from tables at gigs.

Their first mini album, Pearl Street Raga, was released in September 2007.

We've followed and admired Babel on BBC Radio Bristol Introducing for quite some time, but we only finally got them into the studio for a session in 2007. So now's your chance to fall in love with them yourselves.

And if ever you see them on the listings playing at a venue near you, do not pass the opportunity up to catch one of the most nerve-tinglingly, foot-tappingly, hand-clappingly great bands around in a live environment. You will not be disappointed.

BBC Radio Bristol Introducing with Richard Pitt and Gary Smith is on-air on BBC Radio Bristol each Saturday and Sunday from 1am until 3am. If you can't stay up that late you can listen at a time that suits you by clicking listen again on the right of this page.
