At 6 Music we're currently asking you to help us crown the Greatest Hit from the station's lifetime.  Producers and presenters whittled a list down to just 100 and we've been asking you to pick your favourite.

For instance Tom has chosen The Streets' Weak Become Heroes - but on Now Playing this Sunday from 6pm we want you to pick your top track and pitch why it other should also vote for it as their number one. Equally, we want to hear what the songs remind you of - where was the first place you heard them, what does it remind you of or who.

* Is Amy Winehouse's Rehab the ultimate depiction of sturggle against addiction?

* Would you argue Underworld's Two Months Off is the definitive party track?

* Has Guy Garvey and co made the most perfect piece of popular music in One Day Like This?

This is your chance to shout across the internet and the radio and argue your case for 6 Music's Greatest Hit since we began broadcasting in March 2002 - and share with us some of the amazing stories which only come with great music.

The Asphodells (Beats and Beyond)
The new album from The Asphodells is perhaps Andrew Weatherall’s most accessible work to date, which is not to say it’s lacking in depth, more that’s its imbued with an instantaneous appeal that shows just how much fun was had in its making. Along with Timothy J. Fairplay in this project it's one to watch for sure.

George Ezra (My Band is Better Than Your Band)
At just 19-years old the Bristol-based singer has already toured with Lianne La Havas and been signed to Columbia. His voice sounds like he’s been smoking 40 a day for the last 50 years, full of soul it’s just utterly beautiful.

High Highs (The 405)
It feels like High Highs have been around forever. Their self titled EP dropped back in November 2011 and has been part of our staple diet ever since. It plays like a less morose xx but with a greater sense of dynamics, so we are understandably excited for their debut album Open Season, which is released on January 25 - and we can safely say that you are in for a real treat.

Willy Moon (Some Kind of Awesome) With only a handful of songs to his name, Willy Moon is gaining a lot of interest from a lot of different people. If Jack White's a fan you know he's got to be doing something right! His highly infectious single Yeah Yeah has been unavoidable, so here's to hoping his follow up tracks are going to be just as dance worthy.

John Wean (Love Music Love Life) The Glasgow 'indie-pop-rock' four-piece have gained our attention through outstanding festival appearances and an infectious EP in 2012. Blending their catchy sounds, taking influence from Arctic Monkeys and The Wombats, the band will release their debut album this year. If their previous tracks are anything to go by, we can guarantee it will be worth a listen.

Haim (Pigeons & Planes) Haim has an unfair advantage: they're three sisters who look like they'd fit perfectly into an Urban Outfitters catalog. Haim succeed because they aren't just three cool-looking sisters—they're three cool-looking sisters who care deeply about music and do it well. Just look at their faces when they play. It's hard to say whether or not a sense of music is genetic, but Haim provides a good piece of evidence that it is.

Tiny Fingers (Cougar Microbes) Tiny Fingers instrumental live set MEGAFAUNA - released at the end of 2012 - fused elements of post-rock, live electronica, dubstep and psychedelia into an explosive mixture. Having already made waves in their native Israel with radio appearances and numerous live shows the four-piece were also hand selected for support dates for The Mars Volta.

Gerard and the Watchmen (For Folk’s Sake) Harmony-drenched folky trio Gerard and the Watchmen are fast gathering fans and critical plaudits. Check out their debut album I Climbed A Tree and catch them on their February UK tour.

Nautic (Dummy) At Dummy we're really excited about what oddball soul-funk outfit Nautic are going to come up with this year. They're the sort-of supergroup founded by producer Bullion and singer/musicians Laura Groves and Tic, and have an ever-expanding group of musicians joining them on record and for live. Their debut single Fresh Eyes, released at the end of 2012 on Bullion's new label DEEK, was a saxophone-led jam that lifted the soul - and we're hungry for more.

Anna Meredith (CMU) Already known as a classical composer and pundit, Anna Meredith has another life as an electronic music producer. In recent months she’s been getting more attention in this guise too, particularly since the release of her debut EP, Black Prince Fury. Its lead track, Nautilus, is a bold and enthralling track and one of the tracks that got me most excited in 2012 and I can’t wait to hear more in 2013.

Arthur Beatrice (picked by The Blue Walrus)
Brimming with pop hooks and catchy rhythms, Arthur Beatrice's first two singles were on heavy rotation in Walrus Towers for much of 2012. But with the recording of their debut album now done and dusted, and a live show that goes from strength to strength, 2013 should be a huge year.

Coves (The Von Pip Musical Express)
2012 has been a fabulous year for new music and whilst Leamington Spa may not be the UK's answer to Brooklyn it has produced one of the most exciting bands of the year in the shape of Coves. The band consist of multi instrumentalist John Ritgard and singer Rebekah Woods, and they look set to put Leamington Spa firmly on the musical map in 2013. In 2012, they released a quite wonderful Cast a Shadow EP, which mixed garage rock with ghostly 'wall of sound' reverb replete with Beck's sublime and dreamily seductive vocals to produce the perfect musical storm.

Arcade Fire (4Clubbers)
For me it's going to be Arcade Fire. For one their last album was amazing, and for two, James Murphy's likely to be on board, and considering what he did on the latest Pulp track (ok, a rework of an old one from We Love Life era) then it sounds like a match made in heaven.

Jetta (Alfitude)
Chances are that you will hear the most about Jetta in the coming months. Her track Start A Riot is just immense.

Rhosyn (Sweeping The Nation)
Rose Dagul has been putting out brittle, heartfelt cello-led chamber folk demos for a couple of years already but an association with Oxford's Blessing Force collective (Chad Valley, Trophy Wife etc) and a full debut EP in February will hopefully bring her cut glass voice, looped foreboding atmospherics and sense of dark drama to a wider audience.

Bastille (Faded Glamour)
Dan Smith's Bastille outfit are on a journey to stadium pop stardom. Wowing festival audiences and producing brilliant free film-inspired mixtapes last year, the band look set to capitalise on their hype with a debut album coming out in 2013 on Virgin Records.

Chvrches (Breaking More Waves)
They've already been lighting up the blogosphere and have made the BBC Sound of 2013 list as well as the Blog Sound of 2013 list, so it seems that I'm not the only one that loves Chvrches. In a year when certain sectors of the media are predicting the rise of the guitar band, this Scottish electronic trio are the perfect antidote. The formula is simply good tunes and Chvrches bang them out big time.

Straw Bear (A New Band A Day)
They've been around for a while, but have been really under the radar, and are now picking up a lot of steam for 2013. Their song Kitty has a hook line as near-melodically perfect chorus and pace with a delicious construction, delightful lyrics and sweet intent."

Paramore (Drowned in Sound)
Following the emoisation of pop choruses in 2012 (Carly Rae, Taylor Swift et al), Paramore will be huge in 2013! I'm also rather looking forward to Factory Floor debut album, I quite like Twigs and I think Chvrches could be something special, given the chance to develop.

Syron (Radio ClubFoot)
There’s a certain French duo who dress up as robots who we are hoping beyond desperation make a return in 2013, but one artist who is certain to make a huge impact is Syron. The South-East London vocalist had two tracks in our Chart of 2012, has worked with the likes of Tensnake and Rudimental, and her dubut album this year is set to propel her on a path which has previously been trodden by Katy B and Jessie Ware.

We’ve had a pretty amazing 2012 at BBC 6 Music – everyone from Blur to Primal Scream, through Kindness and ending with The Specials have played for us live at Maida Vale; Gilles Peterson and Edith Bowman joined the team; and well, we were named Best Station at the Sony Awards. 

But you, the listeners, are the people who make our station so fantastic and we want you to help us celebrate everything which has happened in the past 12-months by picking the Ultimate 2012 Playlist which Tom Robinson will play out on Sunday from 6pm for two hours.

There’s loads of stuff you could pick from including:
* A session we had in the Hub or at Maida Vale which you loved listening to or were lucky enough to be at.
* Your favourite live music moment of the year – was it the return of The Stone Roses? Or perhaps discovering a new band in a BBC Introducing tent somewhere?
* A new act who has just grabbed you – Jake Bugg, Alt-J or Disclosure for example.
* Someone who made their comeback this year and showed why they are still great – Hot Chip, The Rolling Stones or Field Music perhaps.
