Next week 6 Music decamp once again to Maida Vale where Suede will launch Lauren Laverne's week of live sessions. To celebrate we thought why not get the party started early with a two-hour special where you pick The Ultimate Suede Playlist?

Suede were one of the most important bands of the 1990s and their musical resonance can still be felt to this day. Their eponymous debut album was a game-changer - picking up the second Mercury Music Prize whilst their third album Coming Up sent them into the upper echelons of the pop charts.

They've survived line-up changes, life threatening illnesses and substance abuse, whilst still managing to create some of the most anthemic tunes of the past two decades. After a seven year hiatus the band regrouped for live shows in 2010 and at the start last month announced a brand new album, Bloodsports - a taster of which It Starts and Ends With You leaked online last week.

There's so much stuff you can choose from - including their diversions into synths on Head Music - which all points towards a rather fabulous playlist which Tom will play out this Sunday (Feb 10th) between 6-8pm.

What do you want to hear? It could be
* Your favourite Suede track - hits, b-sides, live versions of rarities
* Their influences, Bowie, Bolan and The Smiths just to name but three
* Some of the other projects and artists Suede members past and present have worked on – from The Tears to The Libertines and David McAlmont, via Futon, Artmagic (Richard's side project) and Brett's solo work
* Music from other Mercury award winners or their 90s contemporaries - Pulp, Blur or Mansun
* How about some bands which are emerging now which owe a debt of gratitude to Suede?

It's up you to shape the playlist. Tweet your suggestions using #Suede6Music, leave your suggestions on our Facebook page, e-mail us your Suede stories or add tracks to our collaborative Spotify Playlist.
Fans of cult electronic duo The Postal Service got an unexpected surprise this week when the band announced they would be reforming for a series of shows, ten years after the release of their debut LP.

The side project of Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard, The Postal Service’s first album Give Up slipped out quietly in 2003 and soon became an underground favourite of the burgeoning online music scene including our friends at Drowned In Sound. Fans have been awaiting a follow up for years, so this week's announcement of headline shows at Primavera and a reissue of the album with brand new, unheard material more than makes up for the wait.

To celebrate their return we’d like you to compile with the Ultimate Postal Service Playlist.

You could go for:
*Your favourite Postal Service tracks, b-sides and rarities
*Acts who have covered the Postal Service perhaps Amanda Palmer, Iron & Wine or Ben Folds
*Other Music from Ben Gibbard’s canon, from Death Can For Cutie to his solo LP
*Artists they’ve remixed included Feist, The Flaming Lips and The Cribs
*Other electronic duos or side projects
*Other acts from Sub Pop stable: The Shins, Mudhoney, Nirvana (the only act other than Postal Service to have gone platinum on the label) or even Flight Of The Conchords…

You need to tell us what to play so leave a comment on our Facebook page or this blog, Tweet #PostalService6Music, send us an e-mail or drag a track onto our Spotify playlist.

This week Stuart Maconie welcome the mercurial talent that is Scott Walker onto the Freak Zone for an hour long chat about his new album Bish Bosh. To celebrate this rare interview, we thought why not warm up by asking you to pick the Ultimate Scott Walker Playlist?

Celebrating his 70th birthday this week, Scott unique voice has seen him take a fascinating career path from sixties pop star to acclaimed experimental musician, via producer and soundtrack composer. Whilst some of his later work certainly errs on the challenging (lest we forget that on 2006’s The Drift he used slapped sides of meat as percussion), Walker remains a fascinating and unique talent, revered by a whole generation of contemporary musicians.

This Sunday we want you to fill the playlist between 7-8pm with Scott Walker related material. It could be:
* Your favourite tracks of his either as The Walker Brothers or solo work
* Some his 60s contemporaries, maybe Andy Williams, The Everly Brothers or The Standells?
* People he’s worked with from Pulp to Nick Cave and Bat for Lashes
* Or acts who have been directly influenced by him like The Last Shadow Puppets, David Bowie, Radiohead and The Divine Comedy

We’ve also asked The Quietus to pick half-an-hour of music between 6.30-7pm – you can read their interview with Scott here.

As usual you can shape the playlist by leaving a comment on this blog or on Facebook, Tweet us using #Scott6Music, e-mail us or drag a track into our collaborative Spotify playlist.

We've given you Part I of who some of our favourite bloggers think are going to be big in 2013 - and here are the rest. But what we really want to know is who do you think is going to make a massive impact on music in the next 12-months. Let us know by leaving a comment on this blog or Tweet #6Music2013.

The Asphodells (Beats and Beyond)
The new album from The Asphodells is perhaps Andrew Weatherall’s most accessible work to date, which is not to say it’s lacking in depth, more that’s its imbued with an instantaneous appeal that shows just how much fun was had in its making. Along with Timothy J. Fairplay in this project it's one to watch for sure.

George Ezra (My Band is Better Than Your Band)
At just 19-years old the Bristol-based singer has already toured with Lianne La Havas and been signed to Columbia. His voice sounds like he’s been smoking 40 a day for the last 50 years, full of soul it’s just utterly beautiful.

High Highs (The 405)
It feels like High Highs have been around forever. Their self titled EP dropped back in November 2011 and has been part of our staple diet ever since. It plays like a less morose xx but with a greater sense of dynamics, so we are understandably excited for their debut album Open Season, which is released on January 25 - and we can safely say that you are in for a real treat.

Willy Moon (Some Kind of Awesome) With only a handful of songs to his name, Willy Moon is gaining a lot of interest from a lot of different people. If Jack White's a fan you know he's got to be doing something right! His highly infectious single Yeah Yeah has been unavoidable, so here's to hoping his follow up tracks are going to be just as dance worthy.

John Wean (Love Music Love Life) The Glasgow 'indie-pop-rock' four-piece have gained our attention through outstanding festival appearances and an infectious EP in 2012. Blending their catchy sounds, taking influence from Arctic Monkeys and The Wombats, the band will release their debut album this year. If their previous tracks are anything to go by, we can guarantee it will be worth a listen.

Haim (Pigeons & Planes) Haim has an unfair advantage: they're three sisters who look like they'd fit perfectly into an Urban Outfitters catalog. Haim succeed because they aren't just three cool-looking sisters—they're three cool-looking sisters who care deeply about music and do it well. Just look at their faces when they play. It's hard to say whether or not a sense of music is genetic, but Haim provides a good piece of evidence that it is.

Tiny Fingers (Cougar Microbes) Tiny Fingers instrumental live set MEGAFAUNA - released at the end of 2012 - fused elements of post-rock, live electronica, dubstep and psychedelia into an explosive mixture. Having already made waves in their native Israel with radio appearances and numerous live shows the four-piece were also hand selected for support dates for The Mars Volta.

Gerard and the Watchmen (For Folk’s Sake) Harmony-drenched folky trio Gerard and the Watchmen are fast gathering fans and critical plaudits. Check out their debut album I Climbed A Tree and catch them on their February UK tour.

Nautic (Dummy) At Dummy we're really excited about what oddball soul-funk outfit Nautic are going to come up with this year. They're the sort-of supergroup founded by producer Bullion and singer/musicians Laura Groves and Tic, and have an ever-expanding group of musicians joining them on record and for live. Their debut single Fresh Eyes, released at the end of 2012 on Bullion's new label DEEK, was a saxophone-led jam that lifted the soul - and we're hungry for more.

Anna Meredith (CMU) Already known as a classical composer and pundit, Anna Meredith has another life as an electronic music producer. In recent months she’s been getting more attention in this guise too, particularly since the release of her debut EP, Black Prince Fury. Its lead track, Nautilus, is a bold and enthralling track and one of the tracks that got me most excited in 2012 and I can’t wait to hear more in 2013.

Once again we've asked some of our favourite bloggers to pick artists who they think are going to be huge in 2013 - here's Part I. But do you agree? We want to know who you think is going to make a big impact this year so leave a comment on the blog or Tweet #6Music2013 and let us know.

Arthur Beatrice (picked by The Blue Walrus)
Brimming with pop hooks and catchy rhythms, Arthur Beatrice's first two singles were on heavy rotation in Walrus Towers for much of 2012. But with the recording of their debut album now done and dusted, and a live show that goes from strength to strength, 2013 should be a huge year.

Coves (The Von Pip Musical Express)
2012 has been a fabulous year for new music and whilst Leamington Spa may not be the UK's answer to Brooklyn it has produced one of the most exciting bands of the year in the shape of Coves. The band consist of multi instrumentalist John Ritgard and singer Rebekah Woods, and they look set to put Leamington Spa firmly on the musical map in 2013. In 2012, they released a quite wonderful Cast a Shadow EP, which mixed garage rock with ghostly 'wall of sound' reverb replete with Beck's sublime and dreamily seductive vocals to produce the perfect musical storm.

Arcade Fire (4Clubbers)
For me it's going to be Arcade Fire. For one their last album was amazing, and for two, James Murphy's likely to be on board, and considering what he did on the latest Pulp track (ok, a rework of an old one from We Love Life era) then it sounds like a match made in heaven.

Jetta (Alfitude)
Chances are that you will hear the most about Jetta in the coming months. Her track Start A Riot is just immense.

Rhosyn (Sweeping The Nation)
Rose Dagul has been putting out brittle, heartfelt cello-led chamber folk demos for a couple of years already but an association with Oxford's Blessing Force collective (Chad Valley, Trophy Wife etc) and a full debut EP in February will hopefully bring her cut glass voice, looped foreboding atmospherics and sense of dark drama to a wider audience.

Bastille (Faded Glamour)
Dan Smith's Bastille outfit are on a journey to stadium pop stardom. Wowing festival audiences and producing brilliant free film-inspired mixtapes last year, the band look set to capitalise on their hype with a debut album coming out in 2013 on Virgin Records.

Chvrches (Breaking More Waves)
They've already been lighting up the blogosphere and have made the BBC Sound of 2013 list as well as the Blog Sound of 2013 list, so it seems that I'm not the only one that loves Chvrches. In a year when certain sectors of the media are predicting the rise of the guitar band, this Scottish electronic trio are the perfect antidote. The formula is simply good tunes and Chvrches bang them out big time.

Straw Bear (A New Band A Day)
They've been around for a while, but have been really under the radar, and are now picking up a lot of steam for 2013. Their song Kitty has a hook line as near-melodically perfect chorus and pace with a delicious construction, delightful lyrics and sweet intent."

Paramore (Drowned in Sound)
Following the emoisation of pop choruses in 2012 (Carly Rae, Taylor Swift et al), Paramore will be huge in 2013! I'm also rather looking forward to Factory Floor debut album, I quite like Twigs and I think Chvrches could be something special, given the chance to develop.

Syron (Radio ClubFoot)
There’s a certain French duo who dress up as robots who we are hoping beyond desperation make a return in 2013, but one artist who is certain to make a huge impact is Syron. The South-East London vocalist had two tracks in our Chart of 2012, has worked with the likes of Tensnake and Rudimental, and her dubut album this year is set to propel her on a path which has previously been trodden by Katy B and Jessie Ware.

Want more?

Ten years on and Strummer’s star burns as brightly as ever, from the charity set up in his name – Strummerville – to a host of contemporary musicians including Emmy The Great and Frank Turner citing him as an influence.

To mark the tenth anniversary of his death we want you to help us create the Ultimate Joe Strummer Playlist for this very special Now Playing.

So what do you want to hear?
At the end of the year there’s one thing which dominates the online music world – lists – and over the next few weeks at Now Playing @6Music we are going to do a series of list-based shows which we need your help with.

1. #Blog6Music - Hype Machine 2012 UK Blog Zeitgeist (December 16)
Hype Machine is the biggest music blog aggregator in the world, pulling together well over 650-different sites to track what is the most talked about music at that moment. They’ve already revealed their overall end of year lists but we’ve especially commissioned them to create the Top 25 most blogged artists in just the UK.

They’ve taken this data from the 137-active blogs which they database – including regular Now Playing contributors The Mahogany Blog, The Line of Best Fit and A New Band A Day. Who will come top? Find out on Sunday and join in the conversation by using #Blog6Music on Twitter.

2. #6Music2012 – the Ultimate 2012 Playlist (December 30)
What is the best track you’ve heard this year? What song will instantly take you back to a 2012 memory? What was your best live moment of the past 12-months.

With just 30-hours left of the year we will run down some of your favourite tracks of the past year with your input on Twitter using #6Music2012, Facebook, here on the blog and on this collaborative Spotify Playlist which you can add track to.

Can you remember what you thought would be big in 2012 this time last year? Well here’s the Spotify playlist you helped put together…

3. #6Music2013 – the Ultimate 2013 Playlist? (January 6)
A lot of people help to put together the BBC Sound of 2013 list, and equally a number of blogs tip artists to shine – but what we want to know is who do our 6 Music listeners think will go from nobodies to stars in the next 12-months.

But it doesn’t just have to be new acts. If your favourite artist is returning in 2013 and you just can’t wait to have them back – like Klaxons, Johnny Marr or perhaps even Daft Punk – we want to know that as well.

And as always, we want your suggestions on Twitter by using #6Music2013, Facebook, here on the blog and on this collaborative Spotify playlist.

So there’s a lot for you to get your teeth into – but we know you’re up for the challenge.

This week would have been the 70th birthday of Jimi Hendrix – the man who tops nearly every poll which searches for the greatest guitar player ever, and who despite not living life as long as others in years, he managed to cram more into it than most.

It’s also been revealed that in March next year a previously unheard album from Hendrix will be released called People, Hell and Angels so what better excuse do we need to celebrate the most iconic axeman the world has even seen than with a special Now Playing dedicated to his music and his wider cultural impact.

Born in Seattle, Hendrix was brought to London in 1966 by Chas Chandler – the bassist of The Animals who was looking for talent to manage. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed and almost instantly the likes of Pete Townshend and Eric Clapton were enthralled by him.

He’s responsible for some of the greatest guitar riffs ever, is still to this day a fashion icon and his live sets at Woodstock and the Isle of Wight have gone down as the greatest nights in musical history.

What to include in the Ultimate Jimi Hendrix Playlist? It’s all down to you – but to help you out here are some ideas:
•	Classic Hendrix tracks from Voodoo Child to The Wind Cries Mary or perhaps you’d rather some of his more unknown ones
•	Artists who became fans of his in London like Eric Clapton, The Who and The Beatles
•	People who influenced his music from blues pioneers such as B.B. King to Howlin’ Wolf, or equally Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry
•	Great guitarists who wouldn’t have played the instrument the same way if it wasn’t for Hendrix – Prince, Eddie Hazel of Funkadelic, or Ernie Isley to Slash, Mick McCready or Kirk Hammett
•	Even Questlove, Chuck D, Ice-T and Miles Davis have all spoken of their admiration for Hendrix

There’s so much scope for you to have fun and go off with this one, but you need to let us know what you want to hear on Sunday evening. Leave a comment on this blog or our Facebook page, Tweet #Jimi6Music, e-mail us your idea or drag a track onto our collaborative Spotify playlist.

And remember to listen from 6-8pm this Sunday on BBC 6 Music for the Ultimate Jimi Hendrix Playlist.

Despite being released twenty-one years ago Massive Attack's is far from coming of age - it did that years ago. Since 1991 tracks like Safe From Harm and Unfinished Sympathy have become some of the most iconic and loved electronic music tracks of the past three decades, while the band have influenced a whole host of other musicians with both their music and their electrifying live show.

This week the record was re-released, remastered and still sounding as fresh as ever and we at Now Playing thought what better excuse do we need to celebrate the mighty Bristolians with a two hour playlist based on the band and picked entirely by you.

Blue Lines will also be Classic Album of the Day on Friday and we want you to pick tracks which shout Massive Attack, the record in question, Bristol and Trip-Hop. For example:
•	The best track from Blue Lines itself, or any other Massive Attack song be it single, B-side or rariety
•	Neneh Cherry who initially funded the band as well as Portishead and Tricky
•	Fellow Bristolians who’ve utilized electronic sounds from Burial to Julio Bashmore
•	People they’ve collaborated with which is as wide ranging as Madonna to Horace Andy through Sinead O’Conner, Mos Def and David Bowie
•	Or other exponents of trip-hop like DJ Shadow and the sounds that inspired from Gorillaz to The Flaming Lips.

There’s so much stuff to get your teeth into here so let us know what you want to hear by leaving a comment on this blog or Facebook, Tweet #MA6Music, e-mail us your suggestion or drag a track onto our collaborative Spotify playlist – and remember to tune into 6 Music from 6pm on Sunday for two hours of music inspired by Massive Attack.
