At the Electric Proms with New Cassettes

As our second BBC Electric Proms experience ends, my BBC Introducing blogging experience begins….hello guys, I do Weekender Introducing from Northampton.

I’ve just got back from taking the show to Camden last Friday to support New Cassettes. The band played with Reverend & The Makers and The Metros at The Barfly as part of Electric Proms Introducing...

It was great to be at the festival again this year. Last year we followed The All New Adventures Of Us who performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra and choir. Playing this year along with New Cassettes, we also had Maps at the festival, who are also from Northampton. They supported Bloc Party at The Roundhouse on Saturday night. Both were quality gigs which I'm still buzzing about seeing.

We broadcast the Weekender live from upstairs at the Barfly and spoke to the New Cassettes and Jon from Reverend & The Makers while we were on-air. If you want to listen you can hear it on our podcast until this Saturday.

Over the past few weeks, the Cassettes have been making a series of short films about what it’s like to be a part of this whole Electric Proms thing. Also their ‘special’ moment was to make a new music video to their forthcoming single Recover Retreat.

The idea in a nutshell is for the film to be 3D, and when you watch you have to wear 3D glasses, ending up looking like singer Tom (above). I’d love to be able to link to it, but I don’t think it’s online yet! Look out for it though, it’ll be here soon.

This year’s Electric Proms finally comes to an end tomorrow. We’ll be comparing the Northampton leg of the Introducing tour which is now on the road. So if you’ve not yet joined Bethan in Cardiff or Andrew in Worcester, your next chance is at Roadmender in Northampton tomorrow night. See you there!
