Find the perfect book for you! Inspiration for reluctant readers

Part ofStudy support

We get it. You're in school all day, surrounded by books so when you get home often the last thing you want to do is pick up another one and start reading for fun.

That's definitely a theme that's come out of the BBC Bitesize and 5 Live Teen Summit survey this year, which suggested nearly a quarter of teenagers can't remember the last time they read for pleasure. The survey, of more than 2,000 13-18-year-olds also suggested more than half couldn't think of two books they'd recommend to someone their own age.

But fear not, we're on the case. Whether it's been ages since you read and you want to get back into books, or you love reading but just can't find the right kind of book for you, take our quiz and get some tailor-made recommendations just for you based on your personality and choices.

If you need support

You should always tell someone about the things you’re worried about. You can tell a friend, parent, guardian, teacher, or another trusted adult. If you're struggling with your mental health, going to your GP can be a good place to start to find help. Your GP can let you know what support is available to you, suggest different types of treatment and offer regular check-ups to see how you’re doing.

If you’re in need of in-the-moment support you can contact Childline, where you can speak to a counsellor. Their lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
