DJ and producer Andy Weatherall and former Spiritualized bassist Sean Cook are among the line-up of artists performing at a special Joe Strummer-inspired weekend at the Windsor Arts Centre.

From Friday 19 October to Monday 22 October, the arts centre, in association with Strummerville: The Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music, presents Riot On The Radio.

"Riot On The Radio is about giving emerging artists a platform to perform alongside more experienced ones."

The weekend of events is a celebration of music, film, art, theatre and spoken word, by artists who have been inspired by Joe Strummer.

Headlining are The Flies (Sean Cook - Spiritualized) supported by a Strummerville DIY band.

Also on the bill is a Rock 'n' Roots night with Andy Weatherall and DJ Scratchy, an opening night party which includes a screening of the recent biopic Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten, the smash hit play of Edinburgh 2006 Meeting Joe Strummer, spoken word (and a bit of music) by John Hegley & the Popticians plus Attilla the Stockbroker - who's performing on his 50th birthday!

However, the festival isn't just about big names. It's also a chance for new and emerging artists to perform.

WAC will be open throughout the whole festival for performances from up and coming musicians and performers, and there will be an exhibition of young artists - all of whom are carrying on the spirit of Joe Strummer.

There is also a chance for local performers to play. Over the Saturday and Sunday, there will be a Strummer Stage in the bar which will give the opportunity for local performers to play an acoustic set.

Anyone interested should contact:

Sascha Evans, Director of WAC, said: "This festival is not just a celebration of Joe's life but a celebration of artists, established and new, who have been inspired by him.

"Riot On The Radio is about giving emerging artists a platform to perform alongside more experienced ones."
