Meet the sports team

We're proud of our sports coverage for Berkshire, from Reading FC to Newbury RFC, Slough hockey club to Bracknell Bees ice hockey. Here are the people behind our sport online and on air.

Get in touch with our sports team:
For our sports editor email: joel.hufford@bbc.co.uk
To reach Tim Dellor email: tim.dellor@bbc.co.uk
For rugby email: graham.mckechnie@bbc.co.uk
For ice hockey and basketball email: andy.stevenson@bbc.co.uk
For any other sports email: oliver.williams@bbc.co.uk

You'll find BBC Radio Berkshire's sports team out and about across the county - and the country - following Berkshire's finest sportsmen and women.

Read on to find out more about each member of the team.

JOEL HUFFORD

Joel's our sports editor. He's been with BBC Radio Berkshire since its infancy and knows everything there is to know about sport in the county.

You'll hear Joel fronting our coverage of Reading FC's Premiership matches alongside Tim Dellor, and reading sports bulletins on weekday mornings.

TIM DELLOR

Tim can often be heard getting excited over Reading FC, cricket and speedway.

He can be heard commentating on Royals matches and on the football phone-in on Friday evenings, plus reading sports bulletins on weekdays and Saturdays.

GRAHAM MCKECHNIE

Graham's in charge of our rugby coverage, commentating on London Irish matches and reporting from Newbury's games.

You'll also hear him reading sports bulletins during the week.

ANDY STEVENSON

You can hear Andy reading sports bulletins but he specialises in covering ice hockey and basketball: if it's about the Rockets, the Bison, the Bees or the Jets, Andy will want to know.

He also works with Ollie Williams on the bbc.co.uk/berkshire website, producing our sports stories, and he's responsible for deciding who wins each week's Sports Caption Competition. Just so you know who to blame!

OLLIE WILLIAMS

Ollie's in charge of sport on bbc.co.uk/berkshire - you can also hear him reporting from sports events around the county, and reading sports bulletins at weekends.

Ollie produces Sportsweek on a Friday night, our round-up of sport in Berkshire. If you know of a sport or event that isn't getting the coverage it deserves, let Ollie know and he'll see what we can do.

AMANDA DELLOR

Amanda reads the news for BBC Radio Berkshire but occasionally breaks out of the studio, particularly to cover equestrian sports.

She brings a love and knowledge of horses to major events like Royal Ascot and the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

RITA KANEGAONKAR

Rita gets all the good gigs: you might have heard her at the 2006 World Cup, or the 2007 Cricket World Cup!

When she's not at the world's top sporting occasions, she produces our football and rugby coverage. She's also a keen cricketer and formerly a hockey player of (we're told) some considerable talent.

MICHAEL WILLIAMS

Michael helps to produce our football and rugby coverage, and does a fine line in the more light-hearted aspects of sport.

Whenever you hear a joke, mistake or moment of brilliance on the radio during a match, rest assured: Michael's got it covered.

Could you tell me where I'd get the music from which the Royals play at the start of the game with video pictures on the big screen

Steve Leversuch
Iv'e got the right hump about BBC berks losing the footie. It doesn't matter about the money it's our local team. It would be the same in our house (Bracknell), the radio would still be tuned in on a Saturday if The Royals had gone down, would the price have gone down as well? I have already renewed my season ticket for next year but if it's only about the money then I hope we come down and play real football again. Don't get me wrong I think MR J Mad. has done a brilliant job but this looks like making me a sports customer not a football supporter. Would the BBC allow the Loyal Royals to contribute towards the difference in fees or would such a venture make such donations part of BBC central funds and policy? Keep it on the BBC dab and remember we are only listening to the BBC talent not wathcing Chelsea / Man U etc skill.

Dave Iremonger - Gosport.
Hi, will I be able to listen to radio berkshire's commentary on the Royal's matches on a Saturday as I did last season?. Thanks Dave.
