Vladimir Putin is the first Russian president to visit Britain on a full state occasion for more than 100 years.

The president took in one of the capital's biggest tourist attractions - the Tower of London.

During their visit to the Tower, Mr Putin and wife Lyudmila eyed the Crown Jewels, including the Queen Mother's famous crown.

Tony Blair and Mr Putin emphasised their common goals, despite differences over Iraq.

The two leaders said their countries had shared a history and good relations for 450 years.

Mr Putin was guest of honour at London's Guildhall, where he enjoyed an English "cuppa" before giving his speech.

Lyudmila Putin and Cherie Blair spent some time together at the Royal Opera House in London.

The Russian president also visited St Paul's Cathedral and Greenwich Royal Observatory.
